Stearin (Stearic Acid)
Can be used to:
Improves strength & burning quality.
Makes wax brittle to give it a crackled effect.
Helps the wax to harden and it also makes the wax more opaque.
It also helps the paraffin burn slower.
For candle making, a typical blend is 10% stearin and 90% paraffin wax, though stearin can range from 2% to 20%. Higher stearin levels produce harder, more opaque candles with better mould release, making them well suited for dipped or pillar candles, while 10–20% stearin helps achieve clearer colours in multi-coloured dipped candles.
